Silent Descent, oil on canvas 42 x18

Late in the day this lovely female leopard silently slipped out of the tree she had been resting in all day, headed for a night's hunting.  It all happened so quickly and silently it would have been easy to miss.  This piece is my contribution for Trailside Galleries 50th Anniversary, congratulations to them, what a wonderful achievement...

Beside the Termite Mound, oil on canvas 20 x 45

We saw this handsome couple when we were last at Mombo Camp in Botswana.   They were part of a large pride and she had some small cubs that I was initially going to have in the painting but I decided to keep it simple, the old rule of "if it doesn't add to a painting it probably takes away from it" definitely applied. This is my major piece for Western Visions at the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Sept this year

Cautious, colored pencil 15 x 22

Bobcats are very wary animals, it is hard to get anything but a fleeting glance of one in the wild.

On the Fence, colored pencil 7 x 19

New Zealand Welcome Swallows almost identical to Barn Swallows, we have them nesting under the studio, they are one of my favorite birds as they gracefully sweep over the lawns catching insects.  These young ones would sun themselves on the fence just outside the window every morning.

Awaiting the Herds, oil on canvas 40 x 68

This was my major piece for 2012, it didn't last long at Insight Gallery.  I am always drawn to the big vistas of East Africa.
